Simpson 165 / M165U

This model ships with both batteries, probe set, fuse, and an operators manual.

This model is from the early 1980's.

 The Simpson 165 has the Taut Band Suspension and a 100 degree dial.

Four recessed probe jacks. Probe set used: Simpson Catalog Number 02055.

Controls include: Ohms adjustment and a 16 position Function / Range selector switch.

To remove knob, remove back cover, rotate knob to 250 VDC position, and loosen

set screw through the small slot at the bottom of the clear front cover.

A higher model number usually means more features, but not in this case.

The 165 has fewer ranges, no D.C. polarity switch, and no mirror on the dial.

The back cover on this model shows that this is a Simpson M165U, the military version.

Four small rubber feet on back prevent slipping in the horizontal position.

Uses two batteries: One 1.5 Volt AA, one 15 Volt Eveready 504 (NEDA 202) The fuse is 1/8 Amp.

Remove back cover and then metal bar and insert positive terminal up.
